That almost seems TOO convenient.

Ralf: Well fortunately I planned ahead and wrote my name on the bottom. Whoever finds it will notify me hoping for a reward.
Alfin: I don't think that's how this world works . . .

Ralf: Why not? "Ralf" is obviously an Elvan name.
Alfin: Well for starters the peoples barely know that Elves exist, and they certainly don't know how to contact you.

Ralf: Well FINE! Then the crazy sorcerer is DEAD, and his magic thingy is irrevocably LOST in the world of peoples. There's nothing more for us to worry about.

Alfin: They can still figure out it was us with a magic trace.
Ralf: Doubtful. That thing was so heavily scry protected that I don't think even the gods can run a trace on it. Maybe an Old One. MAYBE!

Alfin: Well that's it then! We're in the clear! They might suspect it was Elves, but they can't pin anything on us!
Ralf: It's all over! END OF STORY!
